Heart of Worship

When the music fades
All is stripped away
And I simply come
Longing just to bring
Something that's of worth
That will bless Your heart

This is actually one of my absolute favorite Christian songs. I sang it with a fellow seekers member yesterday during lunch, and i feel compelled to share a thought with you guys.

I remember at one of the past praise team bible studies, our drummer and our electric guitarist were missing from practice. The praise team was kinda freaking out, saying things like, "Ohman, what'll we do now?!" or "Maybe we'll make an exception this week, and just let them stand," [since participating in the praise team bible study was required if you were to stand in the upcoming sunday praise]. My teacher shared that we don't need our instruments to praise God. We don't need an electric guitar, we don't need a drum set, we don't need a base. Even if we only had a guitar and ONE vocal, we'd still be a praise team. We'd be doing our job of leading praise.

I think that we, especially those that are participating in Jesus Day Coffeehouse, are becoming extremely prideful. I don't exclude myself from this observation, but I think that we should all pray for humble hearts of WORSHIP. This particular function, as well as our lives as wholes, are for the praising of God. We shouldn't be performing for the glorification of ourselves, but for the glory of God. I think I'm kind of rambling on right now, but I hope I got my point across.

Let's pray for humility.
